Watercress, by Andrea Wang, illustrated by Jason Chin, was selected as one of the American Library Association (ALA)’s top books, digital media, video and audio books for children and young adults in 2022. Watercress won the Caldecott Award and Newbery Honor, and the Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA) Literature Award for Picture Book.
The Caldecott Award, Newbery Honor, and APALA Literature Awards are just some of the award-winning titles that Fraser Hall Library automatically purchases annually in order to maintain an exciting and relevant collection of teacher education materials. The full list of awards is available in our collection development policy.
The children’s and young adult books are a part of the Teacher Education Resource Center (TERC) Collection that supports the learning, teaching, and research of students, faculty, and staff associated with the Ella Cline Shear School of Education at SUNY Geneseo.
Congratulations to Becky Leathersich, our Education, Psychology, and Community Engagement Librarian, who was on the APALA Literature Award Committee that selected Watercress.
