Tech Help for Everyone!

Milne Library enjoyed a surprise visit from the Pillsbury Doughboy this Study Day afternoon, bringing some lighter humor to all of our students studying hard for their finals this week. Mr. Doughboy visited with several folks, including our very own Tech Help.

Looking for a place to study? Try one of our classrooms

Did you know that all of Milne Library’s classrooms are available for student use whenever they aren’t in use for a class?

While our classrooms can be pretty busy during the day with classes and meetings, students can use them to study, chat or sleep whenever there isn’t an event scheduled.

Each of our classrooms is a bit different:

  • Room 104 – The downstairs computer lab, with 40 desktop computers
  • Room 105 – Rectangular and circular tables with plenty of power outlets along the walls
  • Room 109 – Our newest and smallest classroom, the tables have power strips to plug in your laptop
  • Room 213 – Round tables make group work easy (see the image above)

For room locations, see our library floor plans.

In order to find out if space is available, check out the schedule monitors outside of each classroom, or the main schedule monitor in the library lobby.

You can also check the classroom schedule online (click filter to limit the results to rooms in Milne Library).

Student groups can also reserve one of our classrooms for group meetings by filling out this online form.

What was that title…??

Have you ever found yourself remembering some wisp of a story, or an intriguing, nameless character, or perhaps hearing a wonderful quote and wanting to get a hold of the original text, but finding yourself stymied because you simply can not think of or figure out the title? The Library of Congress has a handy a web guide to help with this very problem!

Lost Titles, Forgotten Rhymes: How to Find a Novel, Short Story, or Poem Without Knowing its Title or Author gives you many time-saving strategies for locating those mis- and half-remembered resources.

Bear in mind that while Milne Library does not have access to all of the same databases as are listed in these guides, we do have our own literary resources, including:

Even more can be found on out Resources by Subject: Literature page, and if all else fails, you are always welcome to stop in at the Reference Desk and let our librarians give it a try!
